Anime Review: White Album – Musings and Critiques
I have had either the privilege or horror to watch White Album. Based on the visual novel of the same name, this anime is a faithful adaptation of series in style and plot. Having had it recommended to me and watching the first episode a year or so ago, I decided to pick it up again to give it a shot. After watching White Album, I have mixed feelings about the show, mostly coming from my bowels. White Album is a pseudo-harem drama that transcends the genre by making the main character, Touya Fujii, and half of the cast into human failures.
The Taming of the Tsundere: Japan’s Fascination with Obstinate Women
I was asked in my Literary Criticism class to come up with a comparison of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew with some (read: ANY) form of pop culture. That was their first mistake. The following is copy from the 12 pages of references to anime bullshit Shakespeare could have always done without. I may or may not believe any of this, but hey, do what you gotta do.
An interview with Ichiro Itano about Macross Frontier.

Here is a brief interview with Ichiro Itano about Macross F, translated by "それも名無しで !MQOpFj.OVc" of /m/.
Interviewer: So we're planning a page for fans who don't know you (Itano) or the original Macross.
Itano: Macross Ace (the magazine this is in) is a damned bishoujo character magazine isn't it? I call it "yutori"*, though. Yutori character moe magazine. I think Macross (the original) was popular because of its balance, 1/3 each of cute girls, robots, and songs. But now they say mecha won't sell, robots won't sell, so they turn it into a character-based anime AND they want the fujoshi. I hate the stench of that sort of thing and so actually don't want to be in any magazine articles related to that bullshit, but I said I'd cooperate if they let me badmouth shit and here I am.
Spicy Wolf 2: Now With More Spicy

The first episode of the long-awaited second of anime Spice and Wolf aired in Japan earlier today. Unfortunately, I don't know much Japanese! But here are some pretty pictures while I wait for the subs to arrive.
Umineko start

I know a handful of people who have played through the games and loved them, but I never had the time (I wanted to read through all of CLANNAD but really only got through one arc before time became a crunch). So I am approaching this with a fresh mind, knowing that it comes from Ryukishi07 of Higurashi fame, and supposedly the stories have a very loose connection, but I'll keep that to myself for now.
The voicecast is pleasing, and the anticipation grows as the first episode sets up the scene and introduces most of the characters. Exactly who is Beatrice, and are all the rumors about her really true?
Might take me a few episodes to learn everyone's names. At least I have Ushiromiya down.

Haruhi 2009 – “The Endless Eight”

This week's episode is a bit of a cool down after the time travelling antics of Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, but I enjoyed it even more for several reasons.
Going through ZKC
With Tzion's recommendation, I am going through Zettai Karen Children. I had watched through episode 14 during its run but dropped it since I was too busy. However it's now been a while since I've enjoyed a series like this -- the characters and the humor are all fun again.

Shiho is... fearsome.
My favorite's still Aoi, though.
